At our social enterprises, students enjoy activities like

Cooking food

Growing plants

Serving customers

Using a till

Handling money

Our Vineyard Garden Centre and Vineyard Café are real businesses that help raise money to support everything we do at The Fifth Trust. They are also places where you can gain valuable work experience in a friendly and supportive environment.

At the Vineyard Garden Centre, students get involved in:

  • Growing and looking after plants
  • Serving customers and answering questions
  • Stocking shelves and helping keep the shop tidy

At the Vineyard Café, students help to:

  • Cook and prepare food using local and homegrown ingredients
  • Serve meals to customers
  • Use the till and handle payments
  • Work as a team with staff

These opportunities help you build real-world skills, confidence, and independence. Everything we make or grow is also sold to the public.

Our café and garden centre are based at the peaceful Elham Valley Vineyard. We also offer experience in other social enterprises like The Wood Shack, log deliveries, and garden maintenance, where you can work alongside skilled instructors on practical jobs for local people.
Fifth Trust student Diana in a maroon café uniform smiles happily while standing outside the café against a wooden background.

“Serving customers makes me feel happy. I like talking to everyone.”
